SEO Specialist
GLIDE, a values-first digital creative agency based in Austin, Texas is looking for a SEO Specialist. This role is remote and on a part-time / freelance basis with possibility to scale to full-time.
ABOUT THE JOB
As an SEO Specialist at GLIDE, you’ll bring SEO expertise into two connected parts of our work. You’ll run ongoing SEO strategy and reporting for a handful of dedicated retainer clients, and you’ll also serve as the embedded SEO support across our web design and development projects, making sure every site we launch is set up to be found from day one, by search engines and increasingly by AI tools like ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, and Perplexity. We treat AI search (GEO) as an extension of strong SEO rather than a separate discipline.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Embedded SEO on Web Design & Development Projects
- Run 10, 30, and 90-day post-launch health checks and follow-ups across active builds.
- Implement on-page technical SEO on new builds: schema markup, 301 redirect plans, Yoast SEO configuration, metadata, and URL structure, image optimization, SEO audits, keyword research & overall strategy.
- Estimate the projected business impact of website redesigns for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Contribute to project retrospectives and continuous improvement work with the delivery team.
- Set up pre-launch analytics (primary KPIs) ahead of new site launches.
SEO Retainers & Strategy
- Conduct SEO audits (technical, on-page, off page) using the Blueprint SEO sprint methodology.
- Perform keyword research to uncover ranking and content opportunities.
- Build and execute sprint-based SEO roadmaps for dedicated retainer clients.
- Apply GEO principles to client work: clean technical structure, well-organized content, schema markup, and credible mentions that help AI tools find, understand, and cite client content.
- Set up and manage GA4 and GTM: key events, conversion tracking, and troubleshooting.
- Build and maintain client-facing performance dashboards and reporting, including AI visibility alongside traditional rankings and traffic where relevant.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE + KNOWLEDGE
- 3-6 years of experience in SEO, including technical audits and sprint-based work.
- Comfort working inside active website design and development projects, not just standalone SEO campaigns: pre/post-launch analytics, schema markup, redirect planning, and platform-level SEO configuration (e.g. Yoast on WordPress).
- Understanding of generative engine optimization (GEO): how AI search tools and AI-generated overviews surface and cite content, and how the same technical SEO fundamentals build toward that visibility.
- Experience with SEO tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog.
- Intermediate knowledge of GA4 and GTM, including key event setup, conversion tracking, and troubleshooting.
- Google Ads certification is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with experience presenting SEO results to both clients and internal teams.
