In a nutshell… we spent some time with owner, Julianne Autry of Southwest Bookkeepers to learn more about her business, beliefs, and ongoing path towards success.

Q: What inspired you to begin this business? And how did you come up with your business name?

“When I was ten I told my mom I wanted to be an accountant so I guess that’s when I knew I wanted to work with money. I went on to get an accounting degree and worked in Corporate Finance for over 15 years. I began my own business after being laid off from IBM in 2008. At that time, being a widow with a young child, it was important to me to have a flexible schedule and work from home in order to be there for my daughter. I decided to work towards getting my certification with QuickBooks, and then I started my own business.”

Q: How have you handled the shift in the economy?

“My client base has continued to increase since my business formed 2 ½ years ago. I believe there are enough clients out there who need my services. I focus on finding clients that I can help.”

Q: Where do you anticipate your business will head in the next year?

“In the next year, I hope to help more clients virtually. There are so many resources out there online that make virtual accounting services a great fit for many businesses. I also hope to increase my staff to keep up with the demand.
Five years? In the next 5 years I hope to have clients nationwide with a staff of virtual bookkeepers supporting clients in every state.”

Q: As a business owner, what drives you or helps keep you motivated? A quote? A mantra? A goal?

“Decide what you want, believe you can have it, believe you deserve it, believe it’s possible for you.” –Rhonda Byrne

Q: How has Glide assisted you in accomplishing your business goals?

“Glide has given me an online presence that will enable me to gain clients throughout the United States. I am very excited how this will shape the future of my business!”

Q: What do you want your customers/clients to remember most about their experience with you and your business? Southwest

“Bookkeepers prides itself in offering excellent customer service in a timely manner by experienced personnel who care about what they do. Our services provide value to each client’s company. If the client isn’t benefiting from our services, then I’m not doing my job.”

Q: What do you miss about being a kid? Summer vacation.

“We had a cabin in the Sequoia National Forest in California that we would visit every year.”
