SEO Optimization… Glide Style

Our General Approach To SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of designing or redesigning a website to achieve a higher search engine ranking. Google – as well as Yahoo!, and every other search engine – seeks to provide to its searchers the most relevant information for a given keyword. Website owners are in turn trying to establish the relevance of their sites, and broadly speaking, they take one of two approaches to accomplish this: the ‘crash diet’ approach and the ‘personal trainer’ approach. The ‘crash diet’ can provide a quick relevance boost by cramming popular keywords and posting links from semi-related websites, but search engines quickly catch phony relevance and penalize it with lower rankings. Ultimately, like the business it supports, a website can only achieve lasting search success by consistently serving its customers well. We at Glide have therefore opted in favor of the ‘personal trainer’ method – harder work in the beginning which then paves the way for greater gains in the long run. How do we do it? Simple!

Step One: Who Are You?

To formulate our strategy for optimizing your site, it’s important for us to define who exactly you are and why you have a website. We’ll gather as much pertinent information as possible from you regarding your business and your website. This will enable us to clearly establish the direction of the project, and it will ensure that the end result is consistent with the overall goals of your company.

Step Two: What’s The Plan?

Once we have the info, we’ll begin the work of analyzing all of the factors that will influence your site’s position in search results. We will determine the keywords that your potential customers are most likely to use when searching for a business like yours. Your site’s structure will get a thorough inspection, and anything that is hindering its ‘searchability’ will be noted. We’ll also scan the virtual landscape for opportunities to get the word out online about your new and improved home on the web.

Step Three: Do It!

With all of the opportunities pinpointed, we will put the plan in motion. This may entail both minor and major changes to the site. Old text may need to be updated, and new text may need to be created. Graphics and media may need to be added – or removed. Only the combination of improvements that will create the best solution for you, your customers, and the search engines they use, will be implemented.

After The Initial Project

The internet is continually evolving, and both customers and search engines are evolving with it. Successful SEO is therefore an ongoing process. Your site may only need to be overhauled once, but it will always need to be checked and occasionally tuned up. We will stay on top of any developments that affect your site, and as adjustments become needful, we will recommend them accordingly. You will stay in shape!
